How to cook adobong pusit (squid adobo)?

Filipinos love anything adobo. Remember our first vlog entry?

Now, we will have another adobo but this time squid or pusit version.

Unlike, the chicken adobo, no need to marinate the squid in soy sauce. This is one of the easiest and quickest adobo!

Here's the ingredients:

1. 1/2 kilo medium sized squid, you may cook it as it is or cut into bite-sized pieces

2. 1 medium sized onions, chopped

3. Garlic, minced

4. 3 pieces tomatoes, chopped

5. 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce

6. 3-5 tablespoons squid ink (optional)

7. 1 tablespoon vinegar

8. Water

9. Cooking oil

10. Salt, if needed, ground black pepper, to taste


- Remove the plastic a. k. a. squid bone before cooking!

- Pre-heat 3 tablespoons cooking oil

- Saute the garlic until golden brown

- Add onion and tomatoes until it softens

- Add the squid

- Add soy sauce, squid ink and let it simmer for 2-3 mins

- Add water, as a replacement for squid ink

- Add vinegar, do not stir, let it sit for 2-3 minutes

- Add ground black pepper and salt if necessary

- Add the green chili and let it simmer for 3 - 5 minutes
